PROJECT DETAILS

  • Power Export

BC Energy demonstrated to St. Joseph’s Hospital (SJH), that upgrading their cogeneration system to enable power export would save the hospital an excess of $500,000 each year. This comes after six years of completing the construction of its cogeneration plant and subsequent annual support services.

Consequently, the project – which required getting approval from the utility to export power to the utility grid with the installation of new transformers – enables the plant to run at full load. Now nearing maximum efficiency, SJH can monetize its success by importing less utility power and exporting nearly 9 million Kilowatts annually to the grid.
