PROJECT DETAILS

  • 4.6 Megawatt Cogeneration (CHP) Plant
  • 13,000 lb/hr Heat Recovery Steam Generator
  • Load Management System (LMS)

When Superstorm Sandy exposed the vulnerability of the region’s energy infrastructure, Morristown Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center, chose BC Energy for a solution that would bolster and modernize their electrical infrastructure and add an additional layer of resiliency with onsite power generation.

The solution was cogeneration and our team provided Design-Build services for a new cogeneration plant that consists of a natural gas fired turbine generator (located in a new 1,800 SF building located outside the existing boiler plant) paired with a 13,000 lb/hr Heat Recovery Steam Generator. A Load Management System (LMS) allows the system to run in Island Mode and operations can continue if utility power is lost.
